Dapanux 10 Tablet is primarily utilised to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medicine belongs to the category of antidiabetics.
Dapanux 10 Tablet is prescribed for:
• Managing high blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Reducing the risk of severe diabetes complications
• Lowering the risk of death from cardiovascular causes in patients with both type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet.
• You can take this medicine with or without food.
• Ensure consistency by taking the medicine at the same time each day for optimal results.
• Do not discontinue this medicine without consulting your doctor.
Dapanux 10 Tablet is taken orally.
The side effects of Dapanux 10 Tablet may include:
• Fungal infections of the vagina or penis
• Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat)
• Urinary tract infections
• Polyuria (frequent urination)
Dapanux 10 Tablet contains dapagliflozin (10 mg), which functions by:
• Blocking SGLT2: Dapagliflozin inhibits a protein in the kidneys known as SGLT2, which is responsible for glucose reabsorption into the bloodstream.
• Promoting Glucose Excretion: By inhibiting the activity of SGLT2, dapagliflozin facilitates the removal of excess glucose via urine, thereby effectively lowering blood glucose levels.
Not recommended especially in second and third trimester.
Not recommended in breastfeeding mothers.
Avoid alcohol as it may enhance diabetic ketoacidosis.
No dose adjustment is required. Individual benefit-risk assessment is advised for severe liver impairment patients.
Patients with renal impairment have higher chances of adverse effects related to kidney function and hypotension.
This medicine does not impact your ability to drive or operate machinery.
Avoid use if you have known allergies to any of its components.
Safety and efficacy have not been assessed in children younger than 18 years of age.
Older patients are on risk to higher chances of adverse effects related to hypotension.
Drug-Drug Interactions
• Diuretics: May interact with diuretics and potentially cause dehydration or low blood pressure.
• Other Antidiabetic Medicines: When combined with other antidiabetic medicines, this medicine could potentially lead to hypoglycaemia.
Drug-Food Interactions
• High-Fat Foods: Consuming high-fat meals may delay the absorption of this medicine, affecting its efficacy.
Drug-Disease Interactions
• Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus: May increase the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis in patients with type 1 diabetes.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Exercise caution if suffering from UTIs, as it could potentially exacerbate the infection.
Daily Dose
• Take Dapanux 10 Tablet as advised by your doctor. The dosage depends on your condition and response to the medication.
Missed Dose
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Overdose
• Common symptoms of overdose might include increased urination, nausea, and vomiting. Seek medical attention if these symptoms occur.
• Store below 30°C.
• Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Always verify the expiry date before use.
• Maintain a balanced diet low in sugars and carbohydrates to assist in the management of type 2 diabetes.
