Glynux M 0.5 Tablet is primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus, a condition where your body is unable to effectively utilise insulin. It belongs to the class of medications known as antidiabetics.
Glynux M 0.5 Tablet is indicated for:
• Managing type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Supporting a comprehensive diabetes management plan
• Reducing the risk of complications from diabetes
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet.
• Take this medicine with food at the same time each day for optimal results.
• Continue taking this medicine even if you feel well or your blood glucose is under control.
• Do not alter the dose or discontinue the medicine without consulting your doctor.
Glynux M 0.5 Tablet is taken orally.
The side effects of Glynux M 0.5 Tablet include:
• Hypoglycaemia
• Taste changes
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Stomach pain
Glynux M 0.5 Tablet comprises two active components:
• Glimepiride (0.5 mg): This sulfonylurea derivative increases insulin secretion from the pancreatic beta cells, thereby facilitating the uptake of glucose into cells.
• Metformin (500 mg): Belonging to the biguanide class, metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and enhances muscle insulin sensitivity, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Not advised in pregnant women.
Not advised in breastfeeding mothers.
Alcohol consumption may heighten the risk of hypoglycaemia; hence, it should be avoided while taking this medicine.
Caution is advised especially in case of severe liver impairment.
If you have a history of kidney issues, exercise caution and consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
This medicine may cause dizziness or blurred vision. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
Avoid this medicine if you have known allergies to glimepiride or metformin.
This medicine is not recommended for children under 18 years.
Kidney function should be assessed more frequently in elderly in case of kidney impairment.

• Thyroid Medicines: May alter blood sugar levels when used concomitantly with this medicine.

Drug-Disease Interactions
• Heart Disease: The medicine may necessitate close cardiac monitoring due to potential effects on heart function.
• Hormonal Disorders: Conditions like hypothyroidism may influence the medicine's efficacy.
• G6PD Deficiency: Caution is advised as there might be an increased risk of haemolytic anaemia.
Daily Dosage
• Take the prescribed daily dose of Glynux M 0.5 Tablet as directed by your doctor.
• The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. Follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.
Missed Dose
• If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed one.
Overdose
• Common overdose symptoms include nausea, diarrhoea, and taste changes. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
• Store at room temperature not exceeding 30°C.
• Keep protected from light and moisture.
• Ensure it is out of reach of children.
• Use before the expiry date.
• Maintain a balanced diet low in sugars and high in fibre to assist with blood glucose management.
