Rengrel 90 Tablet is primarily used to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in high-risk individuals. It belongs to the class of medicines known as antiplatelet agents.
Rengrel 90 Tablet is prescribed for:
• Reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke in adults with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) or a history of Myocardial Infarction (MI).
• Preventing thrombotic events in adults with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) at high risk of developing an atherothrombotic event.
• Swallow Rengrel 90 Tablet whole with water.
• It can be taken with or without food.
• Administer at the same time each day as prescribed by your doctor.
• If unable to swallow the whole tablet, it can be crushed, mixed with water, and consumed immediately.
• Do not cease taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.
Rengrel 90 Tablet is taken orally.
While taking Rengrel 90 Tablet, you may experience common side effects such as:
• Bleeding events
• Dyspnoea (shortness of breath)
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Nausea
Rengrel 90 Tablet contains ticagrelor (90 mg), which operates in the body through these mechanisms:
• Selective Inhibition of P2Y12 ADP Receptor: Ticagrelor selectively binds to and inhibits the P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate receptor on platelets, preventing platelet activation and aggregation, thus reducing blood clot formation.
• No Metabolic Activation Required: Unlike certain antiplatelet agents, ticagrelor does not require metabolic conversion to become active, facilitating a rapid onset and offset of action.
• Enhanced Platelet Inhibition: Ticagrelor offers more consistent platelet aggregation inhibition, effectively reducing cardiovascular event risks.
This medicine should be only used when potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding if this tablet is advised.
Consult your doctor for advice regarding alcohol consumption while taking this medicine.
Rengrel 90 Tablet is not recommended for patients with moderate to severe liver impairment.
No dosage adjustment is required. Caution is advised in dialysis patients.
If dizziness or any side effects impair your ability to operate machines or drive, avoid such activities.
Rengrel 90 Tablet is contraindicated in cases of allergy to ticagrelor or any other component.
Not recommended.
Exercise caution if you are above 70 years old, as older patients may have more sensitivities or existing health issues.
Drug-Drug Interactions
• CYP3A Inhibitors: May increase exposure to ticagrelor, enhancing its effects.
• CYP3A Inducers: May reduce the effectiveness of Rengrel 90 Tablet.
• Medicines Affecting Haemostasis: Concurrent use can increase the risk of bleeding.
• High Cholesterol Medications: The efficacy of certain high cholesterol medications may be affected.
Drug-Disease Interactions
• Active Pathological Bleeding: The use of Rengrel 90 Tablet could exacerbate bleeding due to its antiplatelet properties.
• Intracranial Haemorrhage: There is an increased risk of bleeding in patients with a history of intracranial haemorrhage.
Daily Dosage
• Rengrel 90 Tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may vary based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to the medication.
Missed Dose
• If you miss a dose of Rengrel 90 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
Overdose
• The symptoms of an overdose of Rengrel 90 Tablet may include an increase in common side effects such as bleeding events and dizziness. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
• Store Rengrel 90 Tablet at a controlled room temperature below 30°C.
• Ensure the storage area is dry and away from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
• Use before the expiry date printed on the package.
• Maintain a heart-friendly diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol.
• Engage in regular physical activity, such as brisk walking or cycling, to improve cardiovascular health. Consult your doctor before starting a new exercise regimen.
