Foranux 200 Capsule is used primarily for the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This medicine is a combination product classified under corticosteroids and bronchodilators.
Foranux 200 Capsule is prescribed for:
• Management of asthma symptoms
• Symptomatic management of severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• For inhalation use only, not to be swallowed.
• Use with the Rotacap inhaler device.
• Insert the capsule into the inhaler and pierce it by pressing the side buttons.
• Inhale deeply through the mouthpiece to receive the powdered medication.
• Rinse your mouth thoroughly afterward to prevent oral fungal infections.
• Always adhere to the dosage and frequency as advised by your doctor.
Foranux 200 Capsule is administered through oral inhalation.
Foranux 200 Capsule may produce the following common side effects:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach discomfort
• Headache
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Oral thrush (a fungal infection in the mouth)
Foranux 200 Capsule includes two active components:
• Formoterol fumarate (6 mcg): This long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) aids in relaxing the muscles around the airways, providing swift and sustained relief from bronchospasm.
• Budesonide (200 mcg): A glucocorticosteroid with significant anti-inflammatory properties, it diminishes inflammation and irritation in the airways, facilitating easier breathing.
Foranux 200 Capsule is advised against use during pregnancy due to the potential for foetal harm by budesonide.
Use the medicine with caution, as its components may pass into breast milk and affect the nursing infant.
Avoid alcohol consumption while using this medicine as it may intensify side effects like dizziness.
Contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment.
Caution is advised for individuals with kidney issues.
Though Foranux 200 Capsule does not typically affect your ability to drive or operate machinery, if dizziness or weakness is experienced, avoid such activities and seek medical advice.
Do not use if you are allergic to budesonide, formoterol fumarate, or any other ingredients.
Administer to children only under strict medical supervision.
Use under medical supervision for older patients due to increased susceptibility to side effects. Caution is advisable for those over 70 years and with potential liver and kidney issues. Your doctor will guide you based on your health status.
Drug-Drug Interactions
• Beta-blockers: May reduce the effectiveness of formoterol fumarate.
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic antidepressants: Can increase the risk of irregular heartbeats.
• Diuretics: Using diuretics in conjunction with Foranux 400 Rotacaps can raise the risk of ECG changes and hypokalaemia.
• Xanthine Derivatives and Systemic Steroids: This combination may potentiate hypokalaemia.
• Digitalis Glycosides: There is a potential for increased risk of arrhythmias.
Drug-Food Interactions
• Grapefruit Juice: This can raise the amount of budesonide in your body, causing adverse effects.
Drug-Disease Interactions
• Cardiovascular Disorders: Patients with conditions like coronary insufficiency and hypertension should use Foranux 200 Capsule cautiously due to an increased risk of cardiovascular events.
• Convulsive Disorders: Caution is recommended for patients with seizures or epilepsy.
• Thyrotoxicosis: Use judiciously as it may exacerbate the condition in patients with an overactive thyroid gland.
• Hyperadrenocorticism: This medicine may worsen symptoms of hyperadrenocorticism, a condition with an excess of cortisol hormone in the body.
Daily Dosage
• Take Foranux 200 Capsule as directed by your doctor. Dosage varies based on individual factors such as severity of condition and response to the medicine.
Missed Dose
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for the next dose. In such a case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Overdose
• Overdosing may result in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, and dizziness. Seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms persist.
• Store Foranux 200 Capsule at temperatures not exceeding 25°C.
